Food aid being distributed in Myanmar

From July 17-25, five Filipino missionaries, led by Pastor Jonathan Bocobo, went to Myanmar for a second Every Nation medical and disaster relief trip.

In 9 days, more than 300 people still suffering in the aftermath of cyclone Nargis received medical and relief assistance. Several hundreds more will benefit from the rehabilitation projects, initiated by the mission team and our Every Nation Yangon Church in the three townships devastated by cyclone Nargis.

In the Pan Bin Chaung Village, located in the township of Seik Kyi Khanaung To, about 300 residents received much needed medical attention and medicines. Former nurse and now Victory - Cabanatuan pastor, Arnold Pascual, says that most patients suffer from malnutrition, tuberculosis and respiratory problems.

The mission team, together with the Every Nation church in Myanmar, also started to clean the pond in Pan Bin Chaung, which serves as their main source of drinking water, and began the construction of a water tank. Pastor Jonathan says, “If we don’t clean the source of their water, they will always get sick.” In the same area, they started the construction of an Every Nation Day Care and Relief Center.

In the township of Bogalay, the construction of flat toilet bowls to benefit 50 households and the construction of a septic tank to benefit more than 300 residents were started. 10 boats for fishing and transportation were also donated and a telephone line was installed.

In the township of Phaypon, Every Nation World Missions has been able to provide scholarships for more than 100 elementary students who were orphaned by the storm.

Pastor Jonathan says, “We still have a lot of opportunities before us and we gained a lot of favor from the township officers. The Every Nation Day Care and Relief Center is a great blessing. Now, it serves as a home for orphaned kids and students and it is our joy and privilege to nurture, equip and give these kids the love of a family. We believe that one day, they will reach out to the people in this nation to share the love of God.”
